DeAndre’s Legacy
DeAndre Lorenzo White began his extraordinary life on December 6, 1992, in Prince George’s County, Maryland. He was the first of two sons born to Mark White and Cheryl Ingram-White, truly a gift from God. He attended Francis Scott Key Elementary School, in District Heights, Gwynn Park Middle School, in Brandywine, Maryland and graduated with the Class of 2010 from Bowie High School, Bowie, Maryland. He participated in and successfully completed The National Leadership Forum on Law in the summer of 2008. He was a student at Prince George’s Community College, Largo, Maryland, pursuing his goal of obtaining his college degree in Criminal Justice, to serve in a career as a United States Federal Agent.
Affectionately known by countless numbers of people simply as “Dre,” his warm buoyant spirit endeared him to so many. At an early age, it had become clear that he would bring constant joy to his family and friends. He was often the center of attention at family gatherings, his mother’s workplace, church, and almost anywhere he could get an audience. Dre would come to be known as “the life party.” He was a caring and compassionate person with a kind demeanor—always respectful and mannerable. DeAndre’s true passion was living his life to the fullest.
After being reared from his birth in The New Macedonia Baptist Church, Washington, DC, he made the choice to acknowledge publicly his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and accepted Him as his personal Savior. He was baptized on November 2, 2005 by his pastor, the Reverend Patrick J. Walker.

ORGAN DONATION

The need for organs remains great. Currently, more than 104,061 people in the U.S. are waiting for organ transplants (www.unos.org). Each year, approximately 6,000 people die waiting for an organ transplant that would have given them a second chance at life with their families.
DeAndre decided to designate himself as an organ donor and shared his decision with his family. He also registered to be an organ donor when he received his license, making his wishes very clear.
He continues to bless six others with the gift of life. The recipient of DeAndre’s heart was a 17 year old male. His lungs were gifted to a 58 year old woman. DeAndre’s liver was able to help two individuals. A 57 year old received his left lobe. The right lobe of DeAndre’s liver was gifted to a 2 year old boy. The recipient of his pancreas and left kidney was a 43 year old male. DeAndre’s right kidney was gifted to a 13 year old boy. The family remains connected to the recipient family, and he is doing very well.
For many people, a better life, or even life itself, may depend on organ donations. Many support organ donation, but support alone is not enough. You can commit to the process by checking the organ donor box when you apply for your driver’s license, by telling your loved ones that you would like to be an organ donor, or you can register online at www.organdonor.gov or www.donatelifeamerica.net.
DeAndre gave his family and friends love, laughter, friendship and joy and he wanted to give someone else the opportunity to have a better life. While the story of DeAndre’s life on earth ends here, for others the story will continue, thanks to organ donation and transplants.
